5th Grade Band Concert Feb 2 , 2010
The Horizon 5th Grade Band will perform their 2nd concert of the year Feb. 2 at 6:30. Band students should arrive at 6:15 in performance clothes.

Students will dismiss 3 hours early for Staff Development.

 

Corrected - Snow Make-up Days Feb 2, 2010
The Johnston School Board approved a plan for students to make up the 5 student days missed due to weather. February 19th and April 12 had been set aside as Professional Development days for staff but will now be regular school days. The school year has also been extended 3 more days to include June 3, 4 and 7.

Staff will make up their winter Staff Development days on June 8, 9, and 10. Any additional snow days will be added to the end of the school year.

 

Corrected - PTO Meeting Feb 2, 2010
Horizon PTO will meet at Beaver Creek's Media Center Feb. 9th at 7 p.m. Superintendent Guthmiller will speak to all District PTOs. Each building will then meet seperately at Beaver Creek.

 

2nd & 3rd Grade Concert - Feb. 11 Feb 2, 2010
Horizon 2nd Graders will perform their annual Music Concert on Feb. 11 at 6:30.
3rd Graders will perform at 7:30. Students should arrive in performance clothes.

 

Conferences Feb. 15, Feb. 18 Feb 2, 2010
Feb. 15th Conferences will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
Feb. 18th Conferences will be held from Dismissal - 5:00 and from 5:30 - 8:00 pm.

 

Update - School will be in session Feb. 19th Feb 2, 2010
On Feb. 1st, the Johnston School Board approved a plan to make up one of the snow days on Feb. 19th. This day was originally scheduled as Professional Development

 

Book Fair Website Launches Jan. 14, 2010

Jump Rope For Heart at Horizon Jan 14, 2010
Second through fifth grade students will have the opportunity to participate in the Jump Rope for Heart activity this year. The week of February 8-12 will be dedicated to a jump rope unit and learning about the positive effects of jump rope on the heart.

Participation in the fund raising activities is voluntary. Students can bring pledges and collect money to win prizes but this is optional for all students. Jump Rope for Heart raises awareness about heart disease and is instrumental in funding research and saving lives. Read more about it in the information that will be coming home with your 2nd through 5th grade student! Thanks for your help!

 

Art Gallery Goes Live Jan. 5, 2010
After many long hours, the Horizon Art Gallery has finally arrived. The 5th grade webmasters have launched the 4th and 5th grade galleries and will be adding more pictures and galleries in the coming weeks. Be sure to check back.
